Information for first race at Dixon on 4/30

The start of the Rotax season is just around the corner with the first race of the 2008 Northern California Rotax Challenge slatted for Dixon on March 30.

Four Rotax race groups will be on the schedule: Junior Rotax, Rotax International, DD2 and Rotax Masters/Masters Light. For now the Rotax Masters/Masters Light will run together, but if the total of these two classes is too large, we will lobby with the Dixon folks to split the two Masters classes to make the racing safer.

Here are some of the details for the race at Dixon:

1. Track direction is suppose to be the reverse track direction based on the last time I checked with the Dixon folks. This is the only time in 2008 that the race direction will be the reverse direction.

2. Entry fee will be $75 for all Rotax entries. Registration starts at 7:00 on Sunday. You must register by 9:00, so don't be late. I am not sure on whether Pre-registration will be available on Saturday.

3. Practice is available on Saturday, $25 for non-Dixon members, free if you are a Dixon club member.
Plan on practice from 9:00 to 5:00. I hope I am correct on this time.

4. All Rotax drivers will have to be National Rotax members. If you are not a Rotax member, then you can sign up online (www.norcalrotax.com) or at the track, see Adrian or Kit for a membership form and to turn in your $75 membership fees.

5. For 2008, the points system for the races at Dixon and Infineon will be the same. There will be one small change to the points system in the Russell series, the top 5 in the Pre-Final will get points, 50 for 1st, 40 for 2nd, 30 for 3rd, 20 for 4th, and 10 for 5th. In the Main, the points will be similar to the past with 200 for 1st, then 175, 155, 140, 130, 120, etc. Expect more on this in a flyer at Dixon.

6. Fuel will be ERC 98 and will be available at the track. Oil will be Motul 800 2T like last year. Kris and I will be at the track by 10:00 on Saturday.

7. Tires will be the new for 2008 Mojo D2 tire.

8. There will be engine tech at all Dixon races this year.

9. Adrian has lined up several sponsors with more in the works. A listing of sponsors can be seen at www.norcalrotax.com.

10. I will be working with the Dixon race director for all the Rotax classes.

I am excited to finally get back some spring time racing and hope to see many of you at Dixon.

Any questions, please email me.

Thanks, Ric Shaw
