Round 4 Drivers' Notes

Drivers' Notes:

1. As was previously announced, the 80 Shifters and Junior 1 classes from the Sunday Series will consolidate into the Rotax Saturday raceday. This will make for a more action packed and fun raceday for all the Jim Russell International Karting Series classes. To make the raceday schedule work out, there will be a couple of changes to the practice groupings.

  • Mini-Max, Micro-Max, and Comer/Gazelle karts will practice all together for both practice sessions.
  • 80 Shifters will also practice with the Rotax DD2 karts during the morning practice. In both of these cases, this will mean from 15 to 20 karts practicing at one time. Given the longer track at Infineon, this should still allow for a quality practice session.
2. Fuel Reminder: With the change over to VP fuel and with many newer karters joining the racing in 2009, fuel mixing has been problematic for the last couple of races. To avoid any problems with the fuel testing, one should make sure to follow these good fuel preparation habits:
  • Get rid of all old fuel/oil mix prior to mixing up a new container of race fuel.
  • Make sure that the gas tank on the kart is completely drained of all old fuel/oil mix. Even a small amount of old fuel may cause a bad fuel testing reading.
  • Mix to the published fuel/oil ratios. Mixing with more or less oil can also cause a bad fuel testing reading.
  • A fuel mixture chart will be handed out to all drivers at registration for this race.
  • Fuel testing will be available during the second practice sessions on race day so racers can make sure their fuel/oil mixed is correctly.

Best regards,
Ric Shaw
Race Director
