Castaneda Takes First Night Race Win

Troy Castaneda takes his 5th win of the season under the lights at the 6th round of the Northern California Rotax Max Challenge Championship in Dixon, California. Troy managed a perfect day qualifying on pole, taking the pre final win and the all important win in the final.

“Well, qualifying was a bit interesting being that we only had two hot laps,” said TC. “The first lap all you’re trying to do is get heat into the tires and the second lap you’re trying not to make any mistakes; it was really exciting actually!”

At the start of the pre final the DD2 field was tightly bunched for the first few laps, but as the second and third placed drivers battled for 2nd place, Troy gapped the field to take the pre final win.

Making a few minor adjustments to the chassis and the motor, Castaneda was ready for the main event. Starting on the inside front row TC took advantage of his position and took the hole-shot into turn one and never looked back. He immediately pulled a gap to the rest of the field. Making no mistakes, Troy led every lap to take his first night race win.

“It was awesome to race under the lights! I had a lot of fun all evening and it was a really great experience. I’m really looking forward to Nationals next week in Oklahoma.”
